couldn’t agree more: slowing down and appreciating the work (and clawing back my attention from job and social media and everything else that sucked at my soul) has totally made me love writing (and editing) again. congrats, man! and as someone who is a few years older and who has worked with you professionally (and sans child) I'm proud to see you achieve it!
Dude, I'm exactly there, too. Turn 45 next year. My daughter's 3. And the one thing that matters to me more than anything is keeping her safe. Thanks for writing this.
I also have the same fear you described, that despite everything there’s only a thin membrane between being able to live and not been able to afford the basics. Having children seems to amplify this as in your article, you’re now responsible for so much more with the introduction of young ones. I’m not sure if it’s the force that drives us, or the inhibitor of a deeper connection to yourselves.

Thank you, Jerry!

I love that. And my pleasure.
Great that you have reached the "there are more important things than my career" stage of middle age. Congratulations on that, and keep on truckin'.
It took a long-ass time. Too long
So happy for you to be fulfilled, professionally and personally.

Bravo. Love this perspective.
